Beaches
Cala en Blanes has lots of unique and different little beaches. The main beach in this area is the Cala ‘n Blanes beach. This beach is the most family-friendly one. The water stays very shallow, and there are rarely high waves as this beach is very sheltered from the sea. Next to the beach, you will find two beach bars and a nice playground for the kids.
Cala ‘n Brut is another excellent sea swimming option in this area. And I am calling it that because it is not a beach but a set of concrete swimming platforms next to the sea. While the description does not sound attractive, it is. Especially if you do not really like getting sand everywhere, this place is ideal. The water is clear, and swimming is very safe here. It is also a great, trendy place to do jumps and some cliff diving for youth.
Cala en Forcat is a mix from the 2. It’s a part beach and part swimming platform and since the water is very shallow and sheltered from the sea also a great place to go with small children. It feels very much like a sea splash pool for kids. There is also a tiny beach, but it can get busy and crowded in the high season months.
Playa Cala Piques is the most hidden and hard to find on the outskirts of the resort. It’s a tiny beach in between the rock with a nice little beach bar. The main bars and restaurant area are very close by. So if you want to spend the mornings on the beach, have a great lunch and then return to the beach, this is a great spot.
Best hotels in Cala en Blanes
Cala en Blanes is pretty big but does not have that many hotels worth advising. Some I can, however, really recommend are:
- Globales Cala ‘n Blanes for those who like an ideal location close to the beach to spent most of the time there.
- Globales Los Delfines if you are looking for the best and most family-friendly hotel in this area. With the location close to all the shops, restaurants and the waterpark, this is the best choice for families.
Things to do in Cala ‘n Blanes
In the centre of the resort, you will find the Aqua Center, and this is also the biggest attraction here. While this water park is not that big, it is well maintained, clean, and great for families with small children. As a tip, some days can be pretty windy in Cala n Blanes and on those days, the Aqua Park might offer a great option.
Nearby you have Ciutadella for some local culture, and there are many boats you can take from the local harbour to go and explore the local beaches and coastline.

Restaurants, bars & nightlife
This area of Menorca has one of the largest selections of bars, restaurants and nightlife in a tourist resort. Cala en Bosch in Menorca is similar, but other places on Menorca don’t have such a large selection. All of this is conveniently located in a central location in Cala en Blanes. However, it can be easy to miss if you don’t know where it is, but once you have found it, you will easily find your way.
Much of it is aimed at families with many bars, restaurants, fun and play area. Some even have bouncy castles and a full playground.
Many of the bars stay open till late in the evenings, but there are no real clubs. Also, in the centre, most nights, they have a show on the centre stage. So if your hotel entertainment is not very interesting, you can always come and enjoy the entertainment here.
Menorca airport to Cala en Blanes
Cala en Blanes is far from the airport in Menorca on the other side of the island at 49 km.
- Taking public transport I would not advise as you will first have to take a bus to Mahon, then Ciutadella and then transfer onto another one to Cala en Blanes.
- A shuttle is a much better and easier option and costs about the same then the public bus at 11 euros.
- Taxi’s start at 58 euros but cost more on the weekends or evenings.

Is Cala en Blanes the right holiday destination for you?
Cala en Blanes is ideal for those looking for a resort in Menorca that has a wide variety of bars, restaurants and shops to browse. Also when it comes to beaches here, there is a large variety with over 4 in the resort itself and many others can be reached easily by bus. In the evening, this is also one of the more lively resorts in Menorca. All in all, this area is one of the more family-friendly ones in Menorca.
