Arguineguin is one of the more relaxed and authentically Spanish tourist destinations in Gran Canaria. There aren’t many hotels here, but this area is very popular with Scandinavian holidaymakers. They come here in winter for the relatively warm climate.
Beaches
The area of Arguineguin has many different beach options. On one side, you have the black sandy beaches of Arguineguin and Patalavaca. While on the other side, you have the beach of Anfi, a lovely fluffy white sandy beach. The Playa Costa Alegre is an artificial white sandy beach recently added to the Arguineguin area. So this area offers plenty of choices of different beaches, especially nice for some variety for those who stay a few weeks as many do in this area, especially in the winter months.
Hotels
Arguineguin, like mentioned before, does not have very many hotels. The majority of this area is the Anfi del Mar complex. To see the other great hotels in Gran Canaria, look at my complete list of best hotels in Gran Canaria selection here.
Nightlife
Arguineguin is a relaxed feeling area and very popular with an older generation of Scandinavian nationalities who come here in the wintertime to relax. Therefore, most of the nightlife is aimed at this group, so don’t expect many late-night clubs. Instead, this area offers mostly places to have some drinks, cocktails and relax next to the beach. Near the Anfi del Mar beach, you will find the more active nightlife with mini-disco and shows for the entire family in the evenings.

Restaurants & bars
There are many restaurants all over the coastline here. Comparing them to other restaurants in other resorts, the restaurants here are generally better and offer better prices. This is because they are not purely aimed at tourists but also at the very large, by comparison, local population that lives here. There is loads of choice, and especially near the Anfi del Mar area, you will find many new restaurants with a large variety.
How to get to Arguineguin
Arguineguin is 42 km from the Gran Canaria airport (LPA):
- Public transport: 5.00€
- Shuttle bus: 5.50€
- Taxi: 34€

Shopping
Arguineguin itself does not have much to offer when it comes to shopping. Just the basics for a good holiday. If you want to shop for clothing or souvenirs, it is best to walk or take a taxi to the Anfi del Mar complex. Here, you find many stores just next to the harbour area and under the Anfi del Mar complex.
Things to do in Arguineguin
Arguineguin is relatively small, so it does not offer many things to do around or in the resort. Therefore I would advise you to rent a car during your holiday in Gran Canaria. It will help you visit some of the lovely beaches this area of Gran Canaria has to offer or visit some of the main attractions in Maspalomas.
