Beaches
Arrecife has one of the most beautiful beaches in Lanzarote, even tho it is entirely artificial. For the softest white sands and crystal clear water in
Nightlife
Nightlife here is like you can expect from any capital. You can find some clubs and late-night bars here, but nothing here is aimed at tourists. This is all traditional Lanzarote and Spanish places. This might be precisely what you are looking for if you want a more authentic Spanish holiday. But do know it will help that you speak some Spanish.
Hotels in Arrecife
Arrecife Gran Hotel and Spa is a great place to stay for a few days or up to a week. If you rent a car and want to explore more of Lanzarote, then Arrecife might make a great place to be as it is centrally located and the driving distance is short to many destinations and sights on Lanzarote.
Restaurants & bars
Arrecife is one of the cheapest places to eat from what I experienced. This is not because quality is low… on the contrary. Most of the places are aimed at the local residents and don’t offer the overinflated tourist prices you might find in other areas of Lanzarote. All restaurants here you can find near the beach and also in the harbour area. Many offer great authentic tapas, and fresh seafood served the traditional way.
How to get to Arrecife
Arrecife is only 6 km away from the main airport in Lanzarote (ACE) and is easy to get to.
- Public transport: 1.4 euro
- Shuttle bus: 7.5 euro
- Taxi: 10 euro in the daytime and 11 euro in the weekend or nighttime
I would always advise booking your taxis in advance. Also the shuttle buses you have to book in advance as it is not possible to reserve them or get a ticket for them at the Lanzarote airport. For more information and the best places to book them have a look here.
Things to do in and near Arrecife
Arrecife has loads of great restaurants, bars and a relaxed atmosphere but does not offer much else for tourists. Therefore I would advise you to rent a car at the airport if you stay for more than just a few days. You can find cars in the airport with fully comprehensive insurance for less than 15 euros a day.
If you rent a car, then definitely visit the Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park and the “Mercadillo de Teguise” market in La Villa del Teguise. But since Arrecife is at the heart of the road network in Lanzarote, it is easy to reach many places very quickly.

Is Arrecife the best holiday destination for you?
Arrecife is the least touristic holiday destination on the island but still a great place to holiday. Prices are much more budget-friendly here compared to some of the holiday resorts in Lanzarote. If you like to explore the entire island and want to experience a lot of what Lanzarote has to offer, this is a great destination for you. You can easily explore the island from here by car or the many public transport options leaving from here all over the island. Speaking a little bit of Spanish will be very helpful here but not a necessity.
