Beaches
There are 2 great beaches in Cala Ratjada, Son Moll beach and Cala Agulla beach. You will find the Cala Agulla beach in many guides as one of the best beaches in Mallorca, but you should take this with a grain of salt. It is a lovely beach with very blue clear water and an excellent location next to the mountain. Before, you could also find the more party youth here on the beach who played loud music and messed up the vibe, but hey, I can’t blame them, it’s holidays… but recently, this seemed to have been forbidden and now is much more chill.
On the other side, you will find the Son Moll beach, a bit more commercial but easy to reach and with many restaurants and snack places right next to it. This last one is also more family-friendly because of its location in the resort.
Hotels
My favourite hotels in Cala Ratjada have to be:
- For a luxury hotel, the Lago Garden
& Spa is a great option.Apartsuites - The Protur Turo Pins is ideal for families if you don’t mind a bit of a walk to the beach.
Nightlife
Cala Ratjada is a great place to party. There are many nightclubs and many beer gardens with a happy party vibe. I like these, and you don’t have them in many places on the island. Like it is with pretty much everything in this resort, the nightlife has a very German tone when it comes to music, the types of drinks served and so on.
Some great places to go that have been here for many years are Bolero, Chocolat and Physical. All of this is in the centre of town, so it might be a bit of a walk away depending on where you are staying. So if you are looking for a hotel and want to party a lot, do check that you are not too far away as the resort of Cala Ratjada is very big.

Restaurants and bars
You have loads of restaurants here, many aimed at Germans with typical German dishes and some great restaurants like the Mamma Pizza where I have eaten many times. Many of the restaurants you will find in the centre near the harbour, the more budget restaurants are more towards the Cala Aguilla beach.
How to get to Cala Ratjada
Cala Ratjada is the resort on Mallorca that is the furthest away from the Palma Airport (PMI). In this case, public transport is not a good option. It would mean a very long drive of several hours and transferring the bus a few times. Therefore, the only valid options are a shuttle or taxi.
For more information about shuttles and taxis to Cala Ratjada and the companies, I would advise booking them with, have a look here.
Shopping
Cala Ratjada has some shops spread out over the harbour area, some touristy but also some for upscale clothing and accessories. In the evening, there are also pop-up style markets in the area. In addition, you can find a weekly market in Cala Ratjada and in Capdepera that can be easily reached by bus.
Things to do in Cala Ratjada
If you don’t want to spend any money and still want a fun day out, a walk over the mountain to the neighbouring beach of Cala Mesquida is an excellent option. It can be very hot in the height of summer, so there is also a more sheltered trail over the lower part of the mountain. A walk or drive up to the Faro de Capdepera outside Cala Ratjada is also a good option. For a bit of culture and local vibe, the town of Arta is worth a visit as well.
The caves of Arta are also nearby and offer a pretty unique experience. You can reach them with the boat trips being offered in the harbour area of Cala R
