Caleta de Fuste

Beaches

Caleta de Fuste has 2 different beaches but also some natural pools to take a swim.

La Guirra beach

Playa La Guirra is the newest beach in this area, constructed in front of the newer hotels in this area. The sand is nice and soft and the beach is protected from high waves by the stone piers. There are some lovely places to have lunch or a few drinks on these piers, but if you like to have more choice, there is also a big shopping centre with lots of restaurants and bars within a short walk from the beach.

Playa del Castillo

The Playa del Castillo beach is the main beach in this Caleta de Fuste, used and visited by most tourists. While the beach is vast it is not the softest or nicest but very family-friendly.

Natural pools

While the 2 beaches here offer some variety, there are also some inviting natural pools just a short walk away towards the North of Caleta de Fuste. These rock formations filled by the sea, offer a unique setting to relax.

Best hotels in Caleta de Fuste

Caleta de Fuste has a lot of diversity in hotels. From large luxury resorts to small compact boutique hotels, you can find it all here. The location, however is essential to consider. As long as your hotel is located near one of the 2 beaches in front of the main road crossing this resort, you are in a good area. If you are staying behind the main road, know that this is uphill and getting to and from your hotel is much more challenging. While there are some budget holiday options here as well, many hotels get bad reviews because of the terrible location and having nothing nearby. Unless you hire a car or take a taxi, for many, especially the elderly or families with young children, this will be too far and difficult to get around.

Of all the hotels I have visited in this area, these I can advise:

Things to do in Caleta de Fuste

Caleta de Fuste is in a great location if you want to see and do a lot of things on the island as you are located close to all attractions. To the South, you have the biggest Zoo on the island, the Oasis Wildlife Park. To the North, the Acura Waterpark and inland are all things to see like Betancuria, Ajuy caves and many museums.

Restaurants, bars and nightlife

Caleta de Fuste has one of the largest selections of restaurants and pubs in Fuerteventura. Most of these are very family-friendly and as they are so numerous, they are hard to miss as they are spread out over the entire area. Some are located indoors in shopping centres, others near the beach and others in the backstreets. So having a little walk around and exploring in the evening is interesting.

For nightlife, many pubs are open till late and there are a few night-clubs in the resort.

Fuerteventura airport to Caleta de Fuste

Caleta de Fuste is one of the holiday destinations in Fuerteventura, located closest to the airport at just 7 km.

  • Public transport to Caleta de Fuste is easy when not arriving on Sunday or late in the evening and will only cost 1.45 € per person.
  • A shuttle bus will get you there faster but needs to be booked before arriving and will cost 5.04 €. It also has a lot of other advantages like a guaranteed seat on the bus and drop off at your hotel reception.
  • Reserving a taxi online before arriving has a fixed price of 17.75 €. Taking a taxi directly at the airport has a starting price of 14.00 € and will be more expensive at the weekend or evening.

This is the company I used and advise for booking a taxi or shuttle online. For more information about public transport, you can have a look here.

Weather in Caleta de Fuste & when to go

Caleta de Fuste has excellent weather all year round. In summer hot, and during winter milder but still very comfortable. Because of this, it is a popular holiday destination all year round. If possible, avoid December as it gets a little bit more rain, but it is still only 3 days a month, so very little.
