Beaches

There is more than one beach in Can Picafort.  Most tourists use the main beach in the middle of the resort, but if you want a more chilled and relaxed experience, head over the nature reserve of Albufera or in the other direction to the dunes area.  Both of these are great for snorkelling as there are fewer people. Right next to the main beach, you will find a large selection of restaurants and snack places and supermarkets so you can spend the entire day on the beach without any problems.  Ideal for families.

Hotels

Can Picafort has loads of smaller and boutique-style hotels closer to the beach, while in the back of the resort, you will find the larger hotels and holiday complexes.  Even these last ones are within easy walking distance to the beach.

• If you are looking for a hotel close to the beach, then Ferrer Concord is a great beach. 
• For families, I can advise the Zafiro Mallorca.
• For an adults-only holiday close to the nightlife THB Gran Playa.

Nightlife

Can Picafort has some of the better nightlife in the North of Mallorca.  All of this is located in the centre of the town so easy to reach from most of the hotels.  There are all-night clubs and, of course, “German-style” beer gardens as there are primarily German (and Dutch) speaking tourists in this area. The only thing missing here is some beach clubs, but all the rest you can find in Can Picafort.  For clubbing, Skau and Charly’s are great options open till late.

Restaurants and bars

You will find some excellent restaurants all over Can Picafort, steakhouses, pizza places, Chinese cuisine, speciality restaurants, and typical German dishes, as much of the resort is aimed at German and Dutch tourists.  As always, eating next to the beach is much more pricey, so try some restaurants in the back streets and go to the Mal Pas beach a bit outside of the central area of Can Picafort, where they offer better value for money.

Shopping

There isn’t really any shopping in Can Picafort.  Just a few shops here with touristy stuff. So if you need to get your shopping fix, your best bet is to go to Palma for a day of sightseeing and shopping there in one of the malls or shopping streets.

If you want to browse, then there is a weekly market in Can Picafort. Also a more extensive market you can find in the old town of Alcudia.  It is easy to get to by bus except for July and August when the market bus to Alcudia get overcrowded.

How to get to Can Picafort

There is public transport going to Can Picafort without the need to transfer in Palma central station. However, I would advise a shuttle instead. It is the same price, but you get dropped off at your hotel and are guaranteed a seat on the bus. 

If you are travelling with 4 people, a taxi will get you there fast but is also more pricey…  To avoid getting stuck in traffic around Palma and having the meter run up, I advise you to book a taxi online to get a locked-in price.  Shuttles, you have to book before online as they are not available without reservation in the airport.

Things to do near Can Picafort

Since Can Picafort is in the North of Mallorca, you are a bit removed from the more famous attractions in Palma.  However, nearby you find a go-kart track and also a horse riding ranch.   If you want to go horse riding, I would advise you to go to Rancho Grande instead.  It is a bit further away but a nicer all-around experience with BBQ, children petting zoo, sangria wagon, and more.  So even if you can’t ride, you can have a great time here.
