Beaches
Costa Adeje has many different beaches. Puerto de Colon beach is the least nice. It’s pretty tiny and very often crowded, but I can see the appeal for families with small children as it is close to many hotels and has everything close by you might need for a beach holiday with the kids and small soft waves sheltered from the ocean.
Playa de Torviscas and Playa Fanabe are much nicer; they are also the bigger beaches in this area with some more upscale sun loungers, Balinese beds
My favourite beach in this area is the Playa del Duque, a lovely little and more upscale feeling beach with some of the
Hotels
- Iberostar Gran Hotel Saloma for a grandish 5-star adults-only holiday with great views over the Fanabe beach.
- Adrian Hotels Colon Guanahani for 4-star adults-only holiday with a relaxed and cozy vibe.
- For family-friendly hotels on a budget, have a look at hotels near the Puerto de Colon and away from the Playa del Duque.
- For a luxurious stay, the Adrian hotels Jardines de Nivaria and Vincci Selection La Plantacion del Sur offer everything you need.
Restaurants and bars
Restaurants you will find all over the area of Costa Adeje, and there is an extensive choice. With Playa de las Americas just next door and within walking distance, you have an even wider selection of restaurants. In both these areas, when going to any restaurants or just having a drink, watch out for the upselling, “the wrong bill, or extra charges.
I have travelled all over Spain to hundreds of destinations, but in Costa Adeje and Playa de las Americas, this was the more prolific I encountered. Many dishes are advertised cheap outside but then are served with extra sauces without you asking for them billed separately. In some places, the food is cheap, but the drinks are costly to compensate.

Nightlife
If you want to go clubbing or partying in Costa Adeje, you will find some bars open till late, but not many clubs. For real clubbing and party nightlife, take a walk or taxi to Playa de las Americas, especially the Veronicas area, the most active clubbing and nightlife in Tenerife.
How to get to Costa Adeje
Costa Adeje is 18 km away from the Tenerife South Airport:
- Public transport: 4 euro
- Shuttle bus: 5 euro
- Taxi: 25 euro
Costa Adeje is 81 km away from the Tenerife North Airport:
- Public transport: 12.40 euro
- Shuttle bus: Not available if you don’t have a packaged holiday
- Taxi: 95 euro
Here are some essential things you need to know about buses, shuttles and taxis at the Tenerife airports. There you can also find the companies I used when travelling in Tenerife.
Shopping
Costa Adeje has many new shopping centres being built all over the area. Most of these sell mostly branded and expensive clothing, but you will also find typical tourist shops here. My advice would be not to shop for electronics here as electronics shops sell fake brands and do tricky things. There are good electronic shops here, but unless you urgently need something, the savings are not worth it.
Things to do near Costa Adeje
The most exciting thing to do in Costa Adeje is the Siam Water Park just in the back of the resort. This is claimed to be the best water park in the world, and while I can not know that for sure, I have been to many water parks in Spain, and this one is definitely the best one in Spain I have been to so far. From many hotels, you can even walk here.
