Beaches
Playa de los Lagos, Playa de Marfolin, El Cotillo beach and La Concha
These are the 4 beaches located in the North of El Cotillo. All of these have white sands, but the further you go to the North, the softer and less rocky the beach. Since La Concha is the furthest to the North, this is the softest and nicest beach.
Protected and sheltered from the sea by the dunes in this area, the waves are not so high here and also, the wind is less.
Playa del Castillo
This beach is located to the South of El Cotillo and is popular with surfers because of the windy and higher wave conditions.
Best hotels in El Cotillo
El Cotillo is not a place that has many hotels, but you can find many holiday rentals here. If you want to stay in one of the better hotels in this area, then Corralejo Cotillo Beach is a great choice.
Restaurants, bars and nightlife
Since El Cotillo has many fishing boats and restaurants, this is a great place to enjoy fresh seafood and drink next to the sea and beach. However, when it comes to nightlife, this is a tranquil and laid-back place.
Fuerteventura airport to El Cotillo
El Cotillo is not easy to get to from the airport as there is no direct public transport from the airport and it is 43 km away. Therefore it is best to pre-book a shuttle or taxi before arriving at the airport.
- There is no direct public transport to El Cotillo. It is possible to get there, but it is much more complex and requires multiple bus changes.
- A shuttle bus will get you there but needs to be booked before arriving, costing 11.04 €.
- Reserving a taxi online before arriving has a fixed price of 65.09 €. Taking a taxi from the airport has a starting price of 53 € and will be more expensive at the weekend or evening.
This is the company I used and advise for booking a taxi or shuttle online. F r more information about public transport, you can have a look here.
Weather in El Cotillo & when to go
El Cotillo has more rainy and cloudy days as it is located in the North of the island compared to other destinations situated further to the South of the island. Even so, it is still very little rain and the weather is mostly warm and sunny. In winter, it gets a bit milder and there are 3 rainy days per month normally. Since most of the rain falls in December, you might want to avoid this month. June, July, August and September have the hottest and driest weather and are also usually the more lively months in the resort.
