Playa de Amadores in Gran Canaria is all about relaxing on the beach. There isn’t much nightlife here, so ideal for a quiet holiday. However, the resort of Puerto Rico just next door has lots of busy bars and nightlife, so if you need this one day, it is just a short taxi drive away.
Beaches
So how is the beach in Playa de Amadores? There is one large white sandy beach with many restaurants and bars next to it, so it is ideal for families with small children. There is also a playground, mini-golf and beach club right next to the beach here. If you want to visit another beach one day, there is an easy walking path to the Puerto Rico beach next door, and on the other side, you will find the Playa de Tauro beach.
Hotels
Playa de Amadores does not have very many hotels and places to stay. So I can not give my favourite ones because there are so few. However, I would advise having a look at deals for Playa de Amadores on Booking.com.
Nightlife
There is not any nightlife or clubs in Playa de Amadores. However, if you want to do some clubbing, you can take a taxi or walk over to the resort next door in Puerto Rico, where you will find more late-night bars and clubs.
If you are not looking for a beach holiday or think Playa de Amadores might be a bit boring for you, then look at my where to stay in Gran Canaria guide.
Restaurants & bars
Playa de Amadores has quite a few restaurants and places to eat next to the beach, but many of the hotels here are inclusive, so many people like to stay and eat in the hotel. However, if you are looking for more variety, you will find this in Puerto Rico next door.

Shopping
There aren’t many stores in Playa de Amadores. However, the neighbouring resort of Puerto Rico has loads to compensate. If you want to do some shopping, it’s just a short walk or taxi ride away.
Markets you can also not find in this area. The closest and nicest ones are in the morning in Puerto de Mogan on Monday and Friday.
Things to do in Playa de Amadores
There is not much to do in Playa de Amadores then go to the beach and relax. This is also where many boats pass, offering all kinds of excursions like going snorkelling, trips to Puerto de Mogan, going whale and dolphin watching and much more. You can also rent jet skis here to explore the coastline or go snorkelling.
