Beaches
The resort of Playa de las Americas has many different beaches spread all over the area. Playa de Troya is the busier of the beaches. Most of the time you won’t notice it much, but since this is close to the main party area of Veronicas, in the summer holidays when many people come to party here, this beach can get a bit loud and crowded in the afternoons.
The more relaxed and family-friendly beaches are the Playa del Camisón or Playa de las Vistas, closer to the Los Cristianos beach but like I said, when travelling outside of the main peak holiday times, all of them are pretty chill and relaxed.
Hotels
- Sir Anthony Hotel Tenerife for those who want an adults-oriented luxury close to the beach.
- HD Parque Cristobal for a family holiday.
- Parque Santiago 3 for a family holiday on a budget.
Nightlife
Playa de las Americas is one of the best-known party and clubbing areas in Tenerife, especially the Veronicas area, a large strip of many clubs and cocktail bars open until the early morning. However, while Playa de las Americas is a great place to go clubbing all year round, know that outside of school and university holidays, some clubs might not be open because there might be fewer people around during that time.

Restaurants and bars
In Playa de las Americas you will find one of the largest selections of restaurants and places to eat. Everything from traditional Spanish cuisine to a large variety of international, fusion and oriental cuisine. Do know that many of the establishments here can get pretty pricey, and do watch out for the upselling and adding extra things to your bill. One thing I did not like here was that many of the restaurants are very big, so sometimes the service might feel a little bit impersonal. If you want the more traditional smaller Spanish restaurant, look in the resort next door, Los Cristianos.

Shopping
If I had to describe Playa de las Americas in a few words, it would be 1/3 beaches, 1/3 shopping centres and 1/3 clubbing. That is the resort in a nutshell. I always thought Playa de las Americas was like Magaluf in Mallorca, but it is not; Playa de las Americas has become much more about class and brands in recent years.
That is also why you can find now many immense shopping centres spread out all over the resort. So when it comes to shopping, especially clothing, you can find an almost unlimited supply of stores here. However, if you want to shop at “lower Tenerife prices”, this is not the place for you. In that case, I would very much advise a shopping day out to Santa Cruz on the other side of the island.
Things to do near Playa de las Americas
The main attraction here in this area of Tenerife is
Siam Park claims to be the best water park globally, but I am always somewhat sceptical of these types of claims. These claims to me are just the same as you will see in every resort 30 places with the “best mojito in tows” sign. However, after visiting, I can say it is the best water park of all the waterparks in Spain I have been to, and that is quite a few so far.
