Playa del Cura is just a little place in Gran Canaria with a few hotels. This is primarily a great place if you want to explore Gran Canaria by car and want a nice relaxed place to come back to. In this video, I want to give you some quick tips to make your holiday in Gran Canaria even better.
Hotels
Playa del Cura has just a few hotels, but some were better than others. Here are my two favourite ones:
- Idyll Suites is simply the best choice for adults-only holidays here with very personal service.
- Riviera Vista is high up the hill with nice views but also an elevator for easy access to the beach.
If you think that Playa del Cura is a bit too isolated or small, then look at my where to stay in Gran Canaria guide. There you can find all the holiday destinations on this beautiful island compared.
How to get to Playa del Cura
Playa del Cura is 48 km from the Gran Canaria airport (LPA):
- Public transport: 6.35€
- Shuttle bus: 9.00€
- Taxi: 50€

Shopping
There are no real shops in Playa del Cura. For real shopping, the closest area is Puerto Rico, not too far away, Meloneras for shopping in upscale fashion stores or directly to Las Palmas for the best deals and less touristy pricing.
Things to do in Playa del Cura
Simply only one tip. Rent a car! Preferably directly when arriving at the airport. There are lots of things to see and do nearby but not in the resort itself. Going there by bus is an option, but since cars are so cheap to rent in Gran Canaria, buses will turn out more expensive and have a lot more waiting. You can find cars at the airport for less than 15 euros a day with fully comprehensive insurance if you book in advance.
